Sweet precious girl, Bear arrived to us with wide open eyes .. a reserved observer.. she was connected at the hip to her buddy . Max, a super chill, well adjusted guy who organically took Bear under his "social butterfly wing" & demonstrated to Bear how easily she could make friends and trust the world around her!! In no time Bear herself became a social butterfly.. we are so pleased that she now has a large and ever expanding circle of friends... AND she's now an official pack-play dog! You can see pics of video of her playing with dogs of all sizes and shapes! While still a touch shy with new people Bear is more times than not happy to see people! She still keeps a distance, a friendly distance from new people.. she watches and listens and does that adorable head tilt that makes everyone smile!!
We were all scratching our heads trying to figure out is she was fully grown.... Having now gone to our vet for her wellness visit we put Bear between 1-1/2 years old. She still has huge paws which might lead one to think she had some more growing to do to fit them!! Evidently she just has big paws! Her utter innocence and clumsy, almost under developed musculature & slight incoordination add to the goofy puppy-ness about her! She kinda moves like a lion... with slow and heavy foot steps.

Bear has no bone to pick.. she sort of gets along by nature.. enjoys her dog pals and seems to feel confident in her communication skills.. Hasn't shown us that she's reactive.. The other day we met up with one of our dog selective dogs and Bear just watched Miss Demi warn her to get lost or else! She did not respond.. just as Bear always does, observed objectively.. eventually added a little distance between herself and Demi. Bear felt safe with her handler and sat down beside her ignoring Demi until Demi got bored!
For whatever reason it appears Bear hasn't had much of an "education" thus far.. She is actually very much like a puppy.. innocent, naive & moldable. Right now she is rapidly learning a lot of important things that will shape who she grows up to be. We want to insure that her "upbringing" helps Bear maintain all her awesomely sweet and delightful Bear-ness.
Bear is not a very active or athletic dog .. perhaps as she puts on weight, gets fit & adds on muscle she will have more athleticism and energy but she's a laid back easy going strolling sort of mover! She often has some lack of coordination when she attempts to hop up on the dog couch! She will clumsily plunk her butt on a dog pal or a human lap!!
