Ben is not only an unusually cool looking dog he is REALLY unusually COOL GUY!!! While initially shy, given the time he needs to scope out the situation he's quite readily at ease.. and seeks connection. It did not take long for him to be completely at home here with all of us .. Lots of fun things happen here. Theres a lot of land to explore, many canine companions to mingle with .. theres play time, office time, quiet cozy naps, games and nature hikes. We also have ponies and horses Ben greets with an amazing level of comfort inside and outside the stables. He has a particular affection for our somewhat skittish pony PIP.. Ben has helped PIP to relax and the two have become close enough to share muzzle kisses!!! SO SWEET!! Ben also walks by the barn kitties ( one of whom is on occasion a bit menacing!) without much if any interest.
Ben is a dog who will walk as far as you want to go and enjoy every moment .. he is easy on the leash.. 90% of the time he has his nose to the ground happily following all kinds of scent trails alongside his dog pals! Occasionally he'll stall out at a particularly interesting scent until he suddenly realizes he's fallen behind the pack and then busts a move, darting forward in a delightfully exuberant way until he is once again in the midst of his pack! Ben particularly enjoys long leash free walks both on solo adventures and with a couple of his dog pals along and into the woods and into the large fields at the farm. Ben randomly executes comedic, full on, short but wonderfully hilarious "zoomie blasts"! He is such a fun and entertaining buddy!!! He also has a CHILLAX setting.. content to hang out and share space .. he enjoys sharing lunchtime break with the staff ... doesn't beg or demand anything.. just likes being with..
From day one when most new arrivals are in some way lit up we noticed a lovely calmness about this beautiful boy .. even during times when he feels a bit uncertain .. Given the time and space to assess things Ben watches quietly & then in his own way gently, calmly explores . Every peaceful, pressure free encounter with new friends is like money in the bank for Ben.. he attains more confidence, more trust and feels free to share his mushy, sweet self!
We all love how his fluffy, big head feels under hand when he seeks affection.. and also the way he curls himself into small circle of a dog only to melt into a wide open, limbs splayed, "belly reveal" on your lap when craves a special ever so relaxed type of affection.. belly rubs!!!!! Ben is a dream.. at first sight yup... but ever more as you spend time and share experiences with him! He's such a charmer!

Ben truly enjoys nature and we think he'd be happiest in a relaxed, somewhat chill country home. He is a sensitive guy and seems to be happiest in fun but peaceful environments. In the slideshow below you may notice Ben with watery eyes .. he came to us with a condition that required surgery to correct and he is fully healed and was a very very cooperative and brave patient! PS~Ben is way more handsome in real life!
