Ben is our most recent arrival.. Poor boy was taken from a hoarding case in which he and about 15 other dogs had been neglected. When we heard about the dogs we agreed to step in and take in or sponsor every dog!! We brought Ben up right away because he had an issue with his eyes that made him uncomfortable. His has Entropion. This is an abnormality of the eyelid in which the eyelids roll inward! Can cause pain, excessive tearing and is usually diagnosed at an early age. There is a heredity factor involved and interestingly Bernese Mountain Dogs, Sharon Peis are a couple of the breeds that tend to have this particular problem. We think he has B.M.D. &
Shar Pei in him!! We decided to take him up on the possible next transport, we scheduled his dr. visits and he is all set to have his corrective surgical repair in January.

Ohhhhhhh What a GREAT boy Ben is!!! He is not only a really cool looking dog he is REALLY COOL GUY!!! He is completely at home and enjoys hanging out and interacting with our ponies and horses inside and outside the stables. He walks by the barn kitties without much if any interest.

Ben is really into walks.. he is a pleasure on the leash.. 90% of the time he has his nose to the ground happily following all kinds of scent trails alongside his dog pals! Occasionally he'll stall out at a particularly interesting scent and end up behind the pack .. once he realizes he's fallen behind Ben busts a move, dashing forward in a delightfully exuberant way!

Ben has a lovely calmness about him wherever he goes.. even when he is a bit uncertain.. He observes and watches quietly, then explores gently. Every encounter with new friends he has more and more confidence and becomes his palsy self!

I just love how his fluffy, big head feels under my hand when he seeks affection.. I love how he rolls on his back when he is relaxed and craves some belly rubs.. Ben is a dream.. to me and I imagine to many who may have the good fortune to meet him!! Warning! I am very tempted to keep the sweet mushy boy
