Benji is about as adorable as any dog could be.. especially if you have a thing for the "long & low" type! He is cute compact.. has incredible eyes.. they seem lit from within.. his coat is silky soft and has wonderful markings. He enjoys trundling along on easy paced walks around the barn and enjoys greeting the horses who bring their muzzles to his level!

On his very first day here Benji seemed very relaxed and eager to make friends.. in fact he was a great help to us in easing the concerns of the dogs with less confidence.. He was happy to escort any dog on walks and social encounters! When meeting new people or visiting with established friends little Ben dropped and gave his belly up almost as a punctuation mark!

Although this little spotty little dog is fairly low on the energy scale he thoroughly enjoys a game of fetch.. and yes he actually does bring the ball back to you and drop it at your feet! Benji prefers the two ball game so theres always one at play, no waiting around for you to pick up the one ball and toss it again!

Benji is a dog who will find a way to sit by your side .. the way real friends do.. if you invite him he'll place one of his Snoopy paws on your leg.. lean fully into you.. or on you if you like.. this has a huge effect on your'e sense of belonging and well being!!!  All seems right with the world with Benji at your side.. Theres a very lovely, peaceful vibe about little Benji.. he is a real pal! He also enjoys the company of cats.. when we introduced him to our resident cat, Chaps.. it was like Benji had been around cats his whole life!

Benji is perfectly comfortable, content , quite familiar and pleased with his daily routines.  He has a charming way about him.. while out touring the farm, passerby's always stop and ask to greet this Beagley-Jack cutie. His "I am ever so pleased to meet you" ritual includes a rather unique "Benji move"..  he gently slides himself up your legs and nuzzles his head into your lap! Benji is such a LAP DOG! He will sit in your lap all day if you let him!

Benji has been quite social from the moment he arrived & has made a bunch of new doggy friends.. hes very nonchalant and clearly comfortable socializing with other dogs..   At times we've noticed he can get a bit puffy when some of the other big time male dogs on the farm cross his path but he easily defers to his handler  (AKA PAL) & follows direction and gets when it's time to mind his own business and move along.

While in the fenced yard with play pack it is a common sight to see Benji sprinting around holding a favorite toy in his mouth! He'll hop up on the garden bench for a better view of things but the minute a ball is at play or friends come visiting.. he does his mighty dog launch to where the action is! He is adorable!!

Today we noticed Benji have a I'm not going to do my adorable slither up the leg greeter with a stranger who passed his path..  Instead he backed into us ( for safety..lol.) and made a soft grrrrrrrr ! First time!!!  We think it might have been the tools and equipment the man was carrying.. but we will take note and watch for patterns.. again.. by nature Ben is a easy boy.. it took very little to reassure him!

As Benji has settled in... we've observed a touch of insecurity.. understanding that his belly up move might not have always a massage my tummy invitation as much as perhaps a.. "I am harmless no need to worry about my intentions" move!  Some Love Dogs  members of our staff have noticed that Benji seems to prefer the company of women.. that he just naturally and easily trusts women.. with some men he is more careful and needs space and time to trust. Other members of our staff havent seen Benji hesitate but we are giving him time to show us more about what makes him tick. Sometimes the excitement and activity.. and number of dogs prevent some dogs from truly letting go and fully relaxing. We suspect that this might be what Benji is showing us.. We are certain he will be a FANTASTIC buddy to someone very lucky.. but he might not be keen to live a life thats non stop action!!

We will continue to add updates and tell you more about this sweet little fella.. but its likely he isnt going to have to wait very long for his forever home. If you are hoping to find a loyal dear friend.. & Benji sounds like the dog for you ..send us your application ASAP..
