Jack has really come into his own.. little by little he let his guard down while his confidence and true self came out! He's a bit reserved with brand new places and brand new people.. just needs a moment to take in the lay of the land .. and quickly reads a happy safe vibe and eagerly joins in... ! At first sight of my big camera lens he huddled up next to Deb on the bench, seeking safety from the clicking noises and pointed at him aim of the camera. .. but in short order he was all ham! you can see in Spring photos, Jack is front and center and even running towards the camera! Same camera, but a new confident Jack!!
Jack truly craves the company of others.. whether it's people or other dogs, Jack loves to be involved in the action but not the center of attention! He warms up to people pretty quickly, though, and shows his affection with sweet little kisses and tail wags. Oh so sweet!!!
A new proud walk with head held high, tail in a happy loose swing motion, eyes bright, mouth open and smiling has since replaced Jack's please don't look at me crawl! He is totally enjoying new experiences with our guidance each and everyday.. much of the time you'll find him alongside his new buddy Rockford!
Jack and RF came to us with their own version of shyness.. but in the most amazing almost magical way, they have taught each other different & appealing ways to react.. Rockford tended to be wildly excited by other dogs while Jack is totally chill and polite.. RF is more prone to flight when a new person appears and Jack will submissively plunk down and show his tummy. So Now RF waits and watches as Jack gets a tummy rub and he can feel Jack chill and then he presents himself to the handler who is providing affection.. Jack observes Rockfords joy explosion upon seeing other dogs and now Jack rides a bit on RFs wave of happiness while at the same time diluting RF's over the top energy!! Some dogs help one another better than any human can... Being with this pair provides us all with an endless series of awwwwwww moments!
Life for Jack these days is largely composed of hikes into the woods, walks down to the barn and some cuddle time on the couch... in the grass... on the porch.. you get the idea!! At this point, it's all about layering on trust building experiences .. and maintaining connection with Jack through fun, pressure-free, all positive all the time organized frolic and social time!
In many ways Jack has been one of our most rewarding arrivals.. because he, unlike many dogs when feeling insecure takes but a moment to notice, feel, accept & move into an open, pressure-free welcome from humans .. he then rewards you by surrendering his whole self in a way that induces what we've come to call a JACK-ATTACK!!! Epic love rushes!!!! He just melts your heart in a way that makes your whole day GREAT! AND you cant stop thinking of him.. AND you feel so so HAPPY to see him again!! EVERYONE loves Jack.. He has, as ORG. co-founder Don says.. "the angel gene"!!
Jack would appreciate a relaxed home with a fairly predictable routine and a dog pal or two would be such fun for him, but not necessary. Jack is going to continue learning all about life here at Love Dogs so stay tuned for updates as he gets better and better!!
