Elliot is an elegant, refined and gentle boy... he doesn't have that HYPER chip in his brain! No wild crazy play.. Elliot will chase a few balls and play with his friends but its always in a realm of MELLOWNESS... He's a smooth mover.. Elliot is an agreeable, calm sort.. he has a certain old soul vibe about him.. has nothing to prove.. and drinks up all the good stuff life has to offer!

We took him from a southern shelter, he had multiple dog bite wounds all over him. Poor Elliot had been attacked by another dog and then brought to the animal shelter where he was, rightfully so, terrified and confused. Here with us he has been wonderfully accepting of new people, his new environment and all of the new sights and sounds the farm has to offer.

Elliot came right off the van trusting the knowledgeable Love Dog's handlers and following along! Since then he has surely let his guard down and is showing us his playful.. cuddly side! Elliot LOVES neck rubs and to sit accompanied in the field on the long line.
Elliot is FANTASTIC. What a love this boy is. He loves car rides and exploring new places. He, at times, will hesitate or stand in place in an uncertain situation but he has begun to learn to trust and look to us in those times. Continuing along his walk head and tail held high with new found confidence! He LOVES walks.. long, short, fast or slow.. it's one of his fav activities! He walks beautifully on the leash, almost never pulls and stays right with his handler at all times. Elliot will look up to check in with his handler and then follow the helpful guidance provided. Elliot has also made so many doggy friends.. Penny, Madeline, Pippy, Hope, Snow White.. even after having been attacked he still very much enjoys play with his happy friendly dog pals!

Elliot never barks, begs or scampers for the attention that he loves so much. He is incredibly patient and waits quietly for his turn to go out. You won't see Elliot react or bark when he is out in the yard with his buddies either.. when a dog passes by he'll curiously watch from afar to see what will happen next.

UPDATE: Elliot was adopted to a loving family with young children who fell head over heels in love with him. He instantly became a part of the family. Elliot was wonderfully relaxed and happy around the kids and demonstrated a high level of tolerance... Sadly, as too often happens in busy homes with young children, tolerant dogs are generally not as supervised as they want to be and need to be. Elliot had a passionate fan.. too young to understand all the signals Elliot gave him to please STOP! His young groupie didn't get that a living dog isn't into being chased, having his space invaded or laid on.. Theres actually a series of warning signals dogs will fairly reliably go through to signal discomfort, fear and the need for what is happening to end. Unfortunately, these signals are often overlooked and in those cases the dog's last resort to communicate "please stop" is a nip or a bite.

Sadly, that is exactly what happened in Elliot's case...from the dogs point of view it is one incident of more stern communication that unfortunately can overshadow all of his wonderful qualities.  However, this shouldn't happen with Elliot! He really loved his young mates and is a fabulous family companion. Of course, now we are looking for an adult only home for him. Since coming back to the farm Elliot's confidence has soared! His previous home did a great job working with Elliot on obedience commands, potty training and confidence building. Elliot is super charming and is a volunteer favorite! He is so ready to go into his new and permanent family... could that be you?! Send in an application and come meet this sweet boy!
