UPDATE on JACK BELOW!!

Darling, dear boy Jack! We are calling him a "mini yellow lab" because, well, he looks like one!! He's got a sweet long and low body type and his shorty legs kind of flip out when he sits. Simply adorable in every way. Jack is a reserved but super fun and playful little guy. He surely is looking for connection and once he has trust with you, he will seek his people out in a crowd! Jack has been working very closely with trainer Jamie and the handlers on having only fun and positive experiences since arriving here on Saturday. This has allowed him to really start to come out of his shell and show us who Jack really is… and we are loving the process!
Check out Jack making new friends and having new experiences!

Trusting new people does not come automatically for Jack. We do know he was neglected and mistreated in his previous home so this could very well have had a lasting effect on how he sees humans. Jack is naturally inquisitive and a curious fellow. He also is a big time foodie! He will pretty much do anything for a treat!! All of this works to our advantage especially when it comes to getting him used to us being in his space, petting him and putting the leash on and off. We have spent a lot of time sitting with him, going out in the yard for free time play and exchanging treats!

After a few days of observing us and learning our routine, Jack has really begun to trust us! He will now come up to us and solicit affection by leaning up and licking our faces. He even climbed into handler Caitlyn’s lap with his sissy Janet! Amazing transformation happening right before our eyes! It is especially important that Jack is greeted in a way that suits him. He does not like to be rushed up on and stared at... who does?! He enjoys when someone new just sits beside him with treats at the ready and waits for him to come explore. He will quickly become curious and make his way over! The new person should do very little, if anything at all, just simply sit there neutral and relaxed. That is the ticket for dogs like Jack!

Jack gets along pretty well with other dogs that suit his style. He especially likes smaller, calm dogs and female dogs. Other males or dogs that are bouncing off the walls kind of annoy him so we are sure to pair him accordingly. He spends a lot of time with Janet, Cora, the retired pugs and some of the chihuahuas!

Jack still has some skills to learn like being fully comfortable on the leash and encountering scary things out in the real world like trucks and cars. He has made so much progress in just a small amount of time! Be sure to continue to check back for updates on how Jack is doing! If Jack captures your eye and HEART shoot us an email!!

UPDATE: Jack has been doing AMAZING lately! His sister Janet got adopted and we were a bit worried how this would affect Jack.. although they weren't bonded at all, he did seem to rely on her for some confidence. The first day or two he was a bit confused but after that he truly has blossomed even more then we could have imagined! He has built his own self confidence and is very content in his routine! We know whenever Jack gets adopted, it will be an adjustment for him. Any transition will take some getting used to but we are sure he has the tools now to handle it with he support of patient, relaxed owners.

Jack would do best in a home without young children and with a household that has a predictable routine. He would not do well in an urban or busy street area. This boy will rely on consistency inside and outside the home! He would do wonderful in a home with another dog! He walks very well on the leash now but still has some environmental fears that can cause him so panic at times.
