Update: Lyla was adopted and returned about a week later because her new owner developed severe dog allergies. Absolutely no fault of Lyla's! Her previous owners were absolutely heart broken to give back this amazing, magical sweet girl. Here is a small write up of Lyla's week in a home by her previous owners. |
Lyla is such an amazing pup who deserves all the love a family has to offer. Her first week in a new home was much smoother than one might expect. She quickly adapted to new routines and finds her place within them. She was WONDERFULLY housebroken and knows that outside is the place to go. Lyla is also crate trained very well, especially come bedtime. One of Lyla’s most interesting characteristics is that she is not a fan of jumping up on the furniture; she would much prefer taking a nap nearby on the floor or a nice cozy dog bed laid out for her. |
Lovely, lovely Lyla is very dear... . Lyla while not timid, has a soft, gentle way about her... friendly as can be and happy to be stroked and loved on.. she even gracefully places her paws on us for closer contact.. she's a sweetheart! Lyla wants to be a good girlfriend doggie.. a pal that you keep by your side.. she's easy and willing to follow along.. She's definitely a companion dog!
Lyla's first day was pretty remarkable.. she was very easy to handle.. nicely accepted Amanda's choice of collar and knows how to walk on a leash! Someone has loved this sweet girl... she almost expects kindness from everyone she meets and has very good manners! Lyla is content to sit at peoples feet and let them love her! She is super friendly and socially skilled with other dogs.. doesn't even react to our socially awkward, clumsy dogs.. she just gives them space and then tries again .. she really enjoys food.. works for treats.. She's really LOVELY in every way.
Lyla has shown us that she absolutely loves the company of other doggies! In just a few days she has made friends with Lizzie, Pogo and Charlie boy. She is extremely patient with Mr Pogo... who finds her so very attractive if you know what I mean... Lyla would make a wonderful companion to another household dog.
Dog trainer Jamie update: Sweetie girl Lyla has stolen my heart! She is HAPPY all the time...seriously ALL the time! Her joy is contagious, it is impossible not to smile with her. Lyla loves other dogs.. she is so good that even our “picky dogs” love her. She would play outside all day if we let her!
The first week was a bit tough for Lyla... in that she wasnt sure where she was or why she was there.. It took her a bit extra time to settle into her new routine and trust that she is going to get all the love, affection, attention and exercise she needs! She does prefer to be with us all the time, she LOVES people! In the 2 weeks shes been here she has connected nicely with each one of us ... like its what she was wanting all along!
Lyla is now playing with toys... her favorite is a plain tennis ball with a hole it in. She loves to chase it and when she’s ready for a break she’ll lay down with in between her feet. Lyla even shares her beloved tennis ball with her doggy buddies!
Ly has wonderful leash manners.. almost never pulls and sits on command. I’ve observed her become a bit hesitant in new places or loud noises. Tail below neutral and may lower her posture.. looking all around and processing the new sights and smells. With a bit of reassurance and confident handling, Ly recovers super quickly and will walk confidently the next go around. We are continuing to work with her on recall and some other fun obedience commands to help build her confidence in those areas.
Lyla is indeed ready for her new and permanent home. She’s a fun gal and would love an active partner or family! Lyla would be happiest in a home with mature children in an stable, not chaotic household.
