Did someone say FUN???!!! Thats our MONA!! She is all fun all the time! Exuberant and joyful Mona conducts all celebrations at the rescue! She bunks up in our kitchen and as a result is always the EPI center of happy gatherings! Being diabetic we can really learn from her how much we humans think all a dog wants is food.. NOT!!! We can't toss her pizza crusts and such because we mind her blood glucose. She is rewarded by attention and affection.. some serenading BUT NO clapping!!!
Mona is a wiggly sweet social girl.. just loves to get loved on and will kindly return the favor! She appears to have been a MaMa doggie a few times in her life before coming to us.  Mona has an inner peace that makes her outlook on life bright and happy! She smiles A LOT! Many of the photographs were taken on her very first day with us and as you can see this girl is a ray of sunshine! She greeted everyone with the same smiley friendliness.. she was curious in way that made you think shes had a charmed life.. always expecting something good to happen! She enjoys other dogs and is a fabulous leash walker.. she waddles her adorable round self down the road always looking back to check in with her handler.

Mona is a diabetic. She is in fact the first diabetic dog we've rescued. Her condition is pretty simple to manage.  She readily accepts getting her insulin shots twice a day; the insulin is injected just under her skin using a tiny needle.  We also test the glucose in her urine using a test strip, just to make sure we are keeping her within healthy glucose levels.  She is amazing and a wonderfully patient teacher for someone who has never given a dog shots before.  Yay MONA!! She's a star!

Mona lives in the kitchen so she gets a lot of visitors and many outside breaks.. Mona is always smiling and happy to see visitors.. She is easily entertained and an absolute pleasure to be with! Mona is quite content with very little.. a little attention, a little affection, a little food and a little toy.. or chew .. a little time spent together .. a little fresh air and sniff about.. just the basics work for her.. BIG TIME! Mona is a GEM!!

We recommend Mona go to a home with children of any age.
