Oakley is an in the moment... whats now is great.. lets enjoy all of it doggie! He just wants fun and connection! Oakley has long floppy ears and a longer pointier muzzle than most Labs.. we are thinking hes got some hound in him as well. He's a friendly playful happy dog who is super easy to walk and relax with.
Oakley needs an experienced adopter looking for more for a working dog type temperament. Oakley would do best in a home without young children or other dogs Oak's likes to have his own sleeping space and has a protective nature as well as some reactivity toward forward pets from people he doesn't know well. We believe a home with young children would likely have too many new visitors and might receive more focused attention ( and perhaps more uneducated, grabby attention than he'd be comfortable with. Oakley is an smart, active, responsive dog. He requires a knowledgeable leader.
He loves to play fetch, surrenders the ball easily for another toss.. He does play ball on his own also! He will toss the ball and chase it catch it and repeat.. !!! He is a lot of fun! Oakley can chill out and enjoy a good lounge but he craves daily activity.. body mind and heart!
Oakley's greeting style is polite and he hopes you are polite too! He prefers to say a quick hello and then pop right on a walk to relieve the pressure of the having all the eyes on him. After the pressure is off he’ll lovingly lean in to your legs in a sweeping motion and gaze up into your eyes searching for a connection.

A walk with Oakley
Oakley walks BEAUTIFULLY on leash. He rarely pulls, unless there is a strong smell his Houndness MUST smell he may pull towards it a bit. He happily trots along side and a few paces in front of you on his easy walk harness. He passes by other dogs, horses and people without reacting or darting over to them. He is very in tune with his person and is such a fun dog to hang out with. Known Commands Sit - Down - Stay - Wait - Search - Fetch/Get your ball and more to come! This boy LOVES to learn!!!! |
