Sweetie pie Opie has completely stolen our hearts. From the moment we scooped her and her brother Otis up, she has been the bravest little soul. Be sure to check out the video above to get a full account of her journey with us from the beginning. Opie has opened up in ways we never would have imagined. She went from being a fearful, trembling and shaking pup to THRIVING in this world that once was terrifying to her. If that isn't the definition of resilience, I don't know what is!
Opie has come such a long way.. Walking on a leash and being around people that she does not know is not nearly as scary as it used to be. She is still reserved when meeting new people and only sometimes one in a new environment but she is incredibly confident within herself and does not feel the need to panic and flee as much as she used to. Watching Opie walk down the road with her head and tail held high thoroughly enjoying herself is such a sight to see! You would never guess that this dog used to be so scared she would only hide in the bushes. She even pulls on the leash sometimes now!
Opie does wonderfully when matched with dogs that are super easy and playful. She can get along with pretty much any dog that respects her space; large or small. We do think Opie would thrive in a home with another dog! She finds a great deal of confidence being around other dogs.
Opie would do best in a home that is not chaotic or unpredictable. While she still has some residual fears, it is important that whoever adopts her understands how she might handle certain situations and ask accordingly. She will continue to get better and better as time goes on. It will be important that she goes go into a home that can make her a priority.
Opie loves taking long walks and hikes in the woods. She is a wonderful walking companion and loves to be outside exercising and enjoying the sunshine with her people!
