Paxton
italian greyhound mix | 21 lbs | 8 months old | male
Paxton is a graceful and elegant, somewhat cautious but very dear little IG mix. He arrived quite distressed after an incredibly long ride north from SC.. he was pretty much freaked out and flattened out like a pancake in the corner of the office grrrrrrrrring. PIP, Rose,Woody and staff dog Bodhi did everything they could to tease him out of his shell. Pax was not having any of it. Rose dear girl plunked down beside him offering her warm body and motherly protection.. still Pax tried to isolate by emiting a ridiculous "grrrrrr" from his pancake pose!! Like us and the other dogs Rose knew that sound meant no harm.. just the noise of a scared little pup. BUT with a gentle tug or two on his leash an a pack of enthusiastic dogs around him to carry him out.. up and out he went until his cute little nose "woke up" and his dogness kicked in! WE LOVE THIS!!!!
Paxton is actually a true companion dog that just hasnt had a true companion...
Once free in the play yard Pax was more interested in following after his human friend than anything else.. we became fast friends and soon he was cuddling into me for affection and reassurance. Then came PIP, Rose and Luchie and Jamie and soon all out fun erupted!! Chase games roll and tumble... meet the HUGE dog ( benevolent BALTO) in the other yard smelling greeting rituals... scent inspections were taken of the entire yard.. passersby stopped and greeted everyone.. and then more running.. Dog Joy!!!! Human joy!!
Since his first day Pax has blossomed in ways we would not have imagined on his arrival.. but we do see this time and time again.. Its so rewarding! Paxton is still somewhat tentative approaching new things.. watch video of him discovering the koi pond below!!! But he approaches and every adventure for Paxton is "money in the bank".. he remembers and is bolder and bolder.. he loves his dog pals, especially young PIP.. ( he too once required a team of pals to help him change from a pancake to a dog!)
