When people talk about dogs.. wishing they could be more like a dog.. Poe is what we refer to.. he's had some rotten luck in life.. but he is such a happy, fully present, utterly content wounded wanderer! Po sustained an injury and now his hind legs move as one limb with two paws! His hips are atrophied but his torso is strong and his chest powerful! He goes along sniffing and exploring like any happy dog.. ITS AMAZING actually how well he moves along.. PLUS.. he's got an incredible attitude! Happy.. Poe is a happy happy sweet humble boy.. He's a joy boy.. you may want to feel sorry for him but you can't.. because he doesn't feel at all sorry!!! In fact he doesn't want anyone to feel anything but HAPPY... he's only got space for happy!
Poe is as sweet looking as he is inside.. you can feel his soft mushy heart in his gentle gaze.. his eyes melt your heart.. he's got a special twinkle that invites your affection! Po's markings are super handsome.. we think he's a Plott Hound mix.. he has a yummy hound dog face!
Poe easily romps around the yard with his buddies... he doesn't feel limited.. Once in a while, he might trip but he always gets right back up and continues play. Now.. Poe's most FAV game ever is FETCH.. he will chase a ball all day long! He even knows how to drop the ball on command (often in trade for a treat!!) so we can give it another throw. He'll often break away from the pack to join up in a nice ball game.
Guaranteed you'll never meet another dog like Pogo in your life. We're not quite sure how Poe became the way that he is but we are sure he doesn't skip a beat! Did we mention he loves to SWIM?! Check out the photos of Poe's doggy paddle skills! A long hike to the reservoir is another fav activity for Poe!

UPDATE: Po’s days at the rescue have been filled with playgroups, clicker training activities, group walks, outings and snuggle time. His most recent outing was to Home Depot with his confident buddy Pippy! Po certainly showed his warrior dog side.. getting into the car was pretty simple.. he can’t really jump so I had to lift him in. He and I (Trainer Jamie) have built a lot of trust & reliable partnership so when I reached in to lift him, checking in along the way to make sure made sure he was okay with what surely feels to dogs an invasive handling I felt rewarded by his complete relaxation!!!

Poey was happy and confident when he popped out of the car in the parking lot. He and Pippy were at the end of the leashes, nose down eager to explore this new area! Walking into the Nursery part of Home Depot was a little scarier for Po. He kept his eye on me and Pippy and followed our lead. After a few minutes he became confident enough to break away from my side and reach out to smell the flowers and soil bags. Boy was I proud of him!!! People racing by with their carts was a cause for concern for Po but once again, he put on his brave face and put his trust in me as he followed tightly by my side.

We are definitely going to keep these outings up to build Po’s confidence as he’s on his wonderful life journey that will one day lead him to his forever home. He is such a special and endearing little guy who only was to do good in life. Could you be Po’s new home? Please don’t hesitate to reach out and speak with our trainer about Po!! We will gladly rant and rave all about him! <3

We recommend Poe go to a home with children aged 12 and up.
