Meet Poppy! What a sweet, happy fun and outgoing little miniature Australian Shepherd with a remarkably adorable underbite that we just can't get enough of! We are slowly learning more and more about Poppy as she gets comfortable. The first day or two was a bit difficult for her to learn what the leash was all about. She picked it up quite quickly and is now walking pretty comfortably on the leash and in her new routine.
So far we have seen her be nothing but loving and sweet to everyone she meets! At times she has been a bit reserved with new people but has warmed up quickly. Cuddly, affectionate and wildly adorable.. Poppy is almost like a mini golden retriever. She may make herself small when first meeting someone new. She'll crawl up and lean her whole body on you and most likely give you little licks and want to take all of your attention! After Poppy gets to know, you are her best friend for life! She will always greet us now by putting her two front feet on our laps and licking our faces filled with so much love and appreciation for our friendship. What an awesome greeting to walk into! She really makes you feel special!
Like all herding breeds, she is an active girl.. zooming around the yard with her buddy Clover is such a sight to be seen! She's not a bouncing of the walls type.. more laid back then her sister(?) Clover. Poppy enjoys the outdoors although she may find certain situations a bit scary at first. It will be important for her person to take their time when introducing her to new places. She has gotten much better in just two weeks, I know she will continue to gain confidence in new situations.
Poppy can get along well with another dog that suits her style and personality. It fully depends on how the individual dog and Poppy jive!
