Roxie
Female / 2 years old / 40 lbs
Our sweet little puppy girl Roxie is having a great adventure on the farm! She spent her first days here wanting to hide and was busy surveying for potential dangers lurking at every corner she for got she had a curious nose.. UNTIL... she got with some relaxed, kind, welcoming dog pals who helped her become calm enough to notice just how safe things are here! Noises, movements and unfamiliar humans started to become ordinary. As she spent more and more time settled and more curious than worried.. Its always a cause for celebration when a nervous dog liberates its nose!!! A dog who starts to put their nose to work changes everything for the better!
Upon arrival Roxie had had ZERO experience with leashes and could not comprehend the purpose... but our old Mama Lana as she has with so many other shy pups, gave Roxie the confidence and security to trot along happily around the fields and pathways with no concerns about the leash!!! For many of the first excursions around the property Roxie chose to keep herself side by side with Lana with as much physical contact as she could!! Eventually as Roxie continued to enjoy long walks and hikes into the woods with her dog pals she gained enough confidence to walk on a 15 ft lead that enabled her to track scents and enjoy following her nose into unchartered territories!!
Roxie has become an avid hiking dog! She enjoys exploring woods, streams, fields even solo ( without needing to lean on Lana!) She takes full advantage of the longer leash and willingly comes when called!

Lana, Jeffrey & Leo are some of Roxie's favorite pals
Roxie has been all over the farm and into the woods. She's naturally curious and unlike many dogs moved in at the sight of horses and ponies to say hello and share breath! Roxie has become accustomed to the trucks, tractors and mowers and other farm equipment. Her buddy Jeffrey has taught her the joy of playing fetch!! Its was such an adorable development!! At first she'd just watch him chase after the ball and return it.. over and and over .. then she started running alongside him back and forth over and over with her cute curly tail up and saggy ! We started tossing her balls and she suddenly grabbed one and ran back to us with it.. SO CUTE!!! She fancies a particular ball.. a yellow smiley face Planet Dog squishy ball!! Roxie has come to expect only good things. She enjoys how much people here understand and listen to her preferences and concerns.. guide her to be brave when its time and cut her some slack when she's really not ready!!
Our Foxy little Roxie is a water dog! SHE LOVES playing in it and thinks the hose is the most fun toy on earth!! She boldly comes to the hose and tries to bite the water!! Doesn't matter if it a strong stream or a gentle rain.. she tries to bite it, enjoys dashing through the spray.. We are beginning to think she can actually learn to play jump rope with the jet spray!! Its so interesting to see a dog who behaves in a timid way suddenly burst into a very brave and bold behavior that most of her more confident dog pals would go out of their way to avoid!!! We want to take her to a lake or a pool to see just how into water she is!!! This little lady is a seemingly never ending "bloomer".. there is no way, as far as we can tell to put her in a category .. she has always and continues to surprise and delight us!!! At this point we think Rox would flourish in a home that continued to offer her pressure free options. She needs more time to bloom in her own beautiful and unique way! We find Roxie to be an absolute treasure! She gets so much from her canine friends and in turn provides them with her own delightfully unique lessons!
For a wee little pup who came to us as the single shy and fearful puppy from a litter of pups all quickly adopted, Roxie has proven to be a uniquely brave, adventurous, sweet water dog with ever unfolding talents, interests and fascinating growth spurts!
