Male 45 lb handsome mix of wonderfulness!
Mickey came off the transport van and we were all surprised to see such a gorgeous, big boy!! WOW!! He is stunning! Big smiley face, twinkling eyes, phenomenal coat in colors and texture.. he is a show stopper!! He enjoyed all his welcomes.. and returned each welcome with his signature Mickey "sure! Anytime friend!" He is a lover .. reeeaaalllly enjoys contact and connection.. great look you in your eyes love gazes! If you agree he will put his paws up on you for more closeness.. otherwise he will keep 4 on the ground while leaning against you legs and turning his handsome face up to dazzle you with more love gazes!! On the move.. he totally doesn't get the leash yet!!! He will keep his body attached to yours.. cycling around you this way and that!!
Not being familiar with leash walking some creative and fun strategies made all the difference! When starting out we let Mickey lead the walk with his nose.. he got comfortable having the leashes on him and around him occasionally he felt pressure and got a quick release.. just enough to help him relax to the sensation.. at moments when he balked and froze some cheery words and wiggly body language from his handler freed him up and he re=engaged! At times some play postures and a swift pace from his handler helped him forget his concerns and he joyfully ran after his new human pal!! He is at first glance a dog with a desire for connection, partnership, play, learning, adventure and fun!! He does have what seem to be some learned behaviors like stalling out when meeting dogs through a fence line.. but we are just not sure if that's him or something his life experiences created.. Mickey needs some time to settle in and show us more about himself.. we will post updates so do stay tuned. No matter what, Mickey is an AWESOME DOGGIE!!
